As every moulder knows venting is critical to the process and is too often overlooked. It allows the air in the sprue, runner and cavity to leave the tool as the melt flows into the cavity. Inadequate venting may cause short-shots, poor surface appearance, or weak weld- lines. At DME we address these challenges.
We offer several solutions including manipulation of the ejector pin to allow venting down an ejector pin, or with the use of porous mold steels.
One of the last elements of the mould design process, the cooling of the mould is rarely optimized and provides major opportunities for improvement. DME offers a breadth of technology solutions to better cool the mould, maintianing part quality and extending tool life.
