Cold Runner System Aids Elastomer Processing
Medical, Food Packaging and Other Markets Driving Demand for LSR, HTV

What do a Bluetooth earpiece, a baby bottle nipple, a flexible shower head and an oxygen mask have in common? They’re all made from elastomers such as Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) and High Temperature Vulcanizing (HTV) silicone rubber. Elastomers are a growing market, and now D-M-E has a product that’s essential to capturing this opportunity: our Cold Runner System.

Unlike plastic, elastomers are shot at room temperature or cooler into a mold and then heated to set the part—hence the need for a cold runner system.

Many of you have been struggling to create your own elastomer equipment. We’re offering our Cold Runner System to help you focus more on core competencies and operate more efficiently.

D-M-E’s cold runner, which has been available in Europe since the late 1990s, offers economic manufacturing and materials advantages in the processing of elastomers. The technology enables the leftover sprue to be minimized and cycle times and setting times to be reduced.

Our cold runner can also be accompanied by a valve gate for absolute shut-off; a vacuum unit ensuring very tight tolerances; and a valve gate controller, creating a complete package that fills the needs of this growing market.
