DME Offers New MoldBasics® Low-Cost Line of Mold Cooling Products
New options for Hose Connector Plugs, Sockets and Seals Expand Offering.
Madison Heights, Mich. – DME Company, a global leader in mold technologies, has expanded its popular MoldBasics® product line with the introduction of several low-cost mold cooling products.
The new MoldBasics hose connectors include sockets, plugs, extension plugs and replacement seals.
They complement DME’s well-known Jiffy-Tite® line of hose connectors to meet a wider range of market needs.

MoldBasics connectors offer high standards of quality construction at a much lower cost than competitors’ products. All connectors feature leak-proof construction combining brass and stainless steel. They have a maximum rated capacity of 200 psi and can withstand temperatures up to 400°F with supplied Viton seals.
Standard Hose Connectors
The new MoldBasics line offers DME plugs used with either DME flow-thru type sockets or DME automatic shut-off type sockets. These connectors are designed for plastics molds and die-cast dies in water, air or oil lines.
All sockets can be used interchangeably with existing mold and die plugs. Comparable sizes of both sockets types have the same O.D., permitting interchangeability even when the plugs are flush mounted. DME automatic shut-off type sockets open automatically when connected and shut off automatically when disconnected. Unlike most valve type connectors, DME sockets are designed to keep flow restriction to a minimum.
Extension plugs are designed for use with existing or new NPT tapered pipe-tapped holes in molds or dies. Their straight threaded area allows easy length adjustment. They’re cut to suit, so no tapering or re-tapping is necessary.
- Flow-thru sockets and automatic shut-off type sockets are both available in straight stem, 90o-stem, 45o-stem, female NPT thread, or male NPT thread, fitting hose I.D.s of 0.25-0.75”or pipe threads of 0.125-0.5” NPT.
- Male and female plugs are both available in sizes ranging from 0.0625-0.75”NPT in pipe thread.
- Extension plugs range in size from 0.125-0.375” in pipe thread and 4.0-8.0” in O.A.L.
SV-Series Connectors
The DME line of SV-Series Connectors features a male plug and socket, each with an automatic shut-off stemmed valve.
The DME SV-Series male plugs feature an automatic shut-off stemmed valve adding the capability of automatic shut-off at the mold. This can minimize mold coolant loss, thereby decreasing clean-up time and the possibility of rust occurring on the mold surface. The SV-Series male plug can only be used with the V2-Series Socket. Comparable sizes of both types of sockets and plugs have the same O.D., permitting Interchangeability even when the plugs are flush-mounted.
The DME V2-Series sockets feature an automatic shut-off stemmed valve that is designed to work with the SV-Series male plugs, as well as the standard male, female and extension plugs. The sockets open automatically when connected and shut off automatically when disconnected. The V2-Series sockets are designed to keep flow restriction to a minimum and are available with either straight, 45° or
90° hose stems.
- SV-Series male plugs are available in sizes ranging in 0.25-0.5”.
- V2-Series sockets are available in straight stem, 90o-stem, 45o-stem, female NPT thread, or male NPT thread and fit hose I.D.s of 0.25-0.5”or pipe threads of 0.125-0.25” NPT.
- 90o and 45o NPT elbows are also available for female and male NPT sockets and range in pipe thread sizes from 0.125-0.5” NPT.
Clampless Hose Stems & Replacement Connector Seals
The new line also includes Clampless Hose Stems for use with push-to-connect/push-to-lock type hoses. These stems are available in valve style, flow-thru style and one-way valve style.
This design of these stems incorporates stem barbs that mate with push-to-lock style rubber hoses, eliminating the need for hose clamps. They’re designed for interchangeability with existing and V2 sockets and are more compact and consistently sized than competitive sockets.
- Valve style hose stems are available as straight stem, 90o-stem and 45o-stem fitting hose I.D.s ranging from 0.25-.25”.
- Flow-thru style hose stems are available as straight stem, 90o-stem and 45o-stem fitting hose I.D.s ranging from 0.25-.75”.
- One-way valve style hose stems are available as straight stem, 90o-stem and 45o-stem fitting hose I.D.s ranging from 0.25-.75”.
The MoldBasicsTM line also includes Viton Replacement Connector Seals. Although all sockets are supplied with Viton seals for use with air, water or heat transfer oil applications, seals should be replaced periodically as required to ensure leak-free connections.
